PMJAY: Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Government's PMJAY: Ayushman Bharat scheme provides health insurance coverage up to Rs 50 lakh for Indians. 

The policy looks at two aspects: one with insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for each family, which includes inpatient hospitalization and other care and the other is to create health and wellness centers for the people. 

So far, 10 lakh Indians have benefited from this scheme. Later, 1.5 lakh welfare centers will also be established within December 2022.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)

This health insurance plan backed by the Indian government, provides coverage on death or disability caused by a personal accident or accident. 

This policy is offered by each of the public sector insurance companies that are in the sub-domain of General Insurance. After necessary approval, this plan is given by all the public insurers in relationship with the bank. 

Any person who is between the age of 18 to 70 years and has a savings account with the specified bank can take this plan. Aadhar card will act as KYC for bank account and scheme.

National Health Insurance Scheme

This scheme is run by the Indian government and is basically designed for the poor of India. This scheme gives them an opportunity to get cashless treatment in various public and private hospitals. 

The scheme was announced in 2008 and so far (till February 2014) 36 million households from 25 states have been covered. The plan was run by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, but on April 1, 2015, it was transferred to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Since this plan is designed for BPL (below Poverty Level) families, they get a biometric-enabled smart card with the help of which they can get inpatient medical care coverage of 30,000 per annum at any eligible hospital . Coverage for preexisting diseases is also available for parents and up to three children.

Universal Health Insurance Scheme (UHIS)

This scheme is designed to improve the health of poor people. Four public general insurers have started in India. In this scheme, eligible families get reimbursement of up to Rs.30,000 on medical expenses and up to Rs.25,000 on accidental death benefit to the income earner in the family.

Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana (AABY)

This scheme has been made by the Indian government for those villagers who do not have land. This plan was launched in October 2007 and covers the breadwinner of a family. 

The family has to pay a premium of Rs 200 per year which is shared between the central and state governments. To take this plan, it is mandatory for the customer to be between 18 to 59 years of age.

Employment State Insurance Scheme (ESIS)

The Employment State Insurance Scheme or ESIS, is designed for workers who work in off-seasonal factories where 10 workers are employed. This insurance coverage can be used for self and family members. 

So far, 7.83 lakh factories and 2.13 crore families/people have been covered under this policy. There are a total of 8.28 crore beneficiaries in this plan so far. 

The list of benefits of this insurance includes hospitalization expenses along with daily cash benefits due to illness or disability. Under ESIS, the benefit of cash is given

·         90% of final wages in case of temporary disability
·         Lifetime cash benefit on pro-rata basis on the loss of earning capacity in case of permanent           

             disability
·         Maternity Benefit equal to 100% of 12 weeks' earnings
·         50% of last earnings for RGSKY unemployed for 1 year
·         Dependent profit 90% on wages
·         Shradh expenses up to Rs.10,000

Central Government Health Scheme (CHGS)

The Central Government Health Scheme is a well-known health scheme run by the Indian government in which health care benefits are provided to central government employees. 

This scheme also covers pension holders; in fact, it covers only four pillars of a republican state, namely the legislature, judiciary, executive, and press. 

It is a unique scheme owing to its comprehensive health insurance benefits. Presently, CHGS has covered around 35 lakh beneficiaries in 71 cities. Allopathic, Homeopathic, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Yoga treatments are covered under CHGS.
